ID Snakes Privacy Policy

What we collect

Nothing. ID Snakes does not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of your personal data. There are no accounts to create, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash-reporting services operated by us, and no servers of ours involved.

How identification works

Every identification runs entirely on your device. The AI model and the full reference library are bundled inside the app, so a snake can be identified with no signal at all. The photo you identify is analysed locally and is never uploaded.

Your photos

When you take or choose a photo to identify, it is used only on your device to run the identification. It is not uploaded, not stored by us, and not shared with anyone. ID Snakes asks for camera and photo-library access solely for this purpose.

Your location

The optional "Near Me" feature uses your location — on your device only — to list snake species recorded in your area. Your location is never stored by us, never transmitted, and never leaves your phone. The feature is entirely optional: if you deny location access, identification and the full reference library keep working normally.

Reference photos

Species reference images shown in the app are provided by the iNaturalist community under Creative Commons licences, with the photographer and licence credited in the app. Viewing them requires no account and reveals nothing about you.

Purchases

ID Snakes is free, with no subscription and no in-app purchases. We never see or handle any payment information.

Children

ID Snakes does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
