Contara Privacy Policy
Effective date: [TO BE SET AT LAUNCH]
What we collect
Nothing. Contara does not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of your personal data or the data on the cards you scan. There are no accounts to create, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash-reporting services operated by us, and no servers of ours involved.
How cards are read
Every card is read entirely on your device. The image you capture and the text taken from it are processed locally on your iPhone and never leave it. The card and its details are never uploaded to us or anyone else.
The contacts you create
When you save a scanned card as a contact, it is written into your own iPhone address book — the same place your other contacts live. Contara does not keep its own copy on any server. Any in-app history of past scans is stored locally on your device and is removed if you delete it in the app or remove the app.
The card image
If you choose to attach the photo of a card to a contact, that image is stored only on your device as part of that contact. It is not uploaded, stored by us, or shared with anyone.
Contacts permission
If you turn on Quick Add — which saves a scanned card straight to your contacts — iOS will ask your permission to add contacts. That permission lets the app write to your address book on your device only. You can leave it off and instead review and save each contact yourself, which needs no special permission.
Purchases
If you buy the one-time unlock, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details — Apple handles all billing, and we never see your payment information.
Children
Contara does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
